Community Fun Day – Oral Health Promotion

NHS Ayrshire and Arran Oral Health Promotion team invites you to attend a community fun day on Friday 15 April, 10am-2pm at KA Leisure Campus, Kilwinning Academy.

Dental services in Kilwinning are expanding and have been highlighted as a key area for the promotion of oral health. The oral health team conducted focus groups in the area and street surveys to gain an insight into the barriers people feel stopping them from registering with a dentist so that we can shape and deliver dental services and oral health programmes in the local area.  The Rise Up and Register campaign launching in April focuses on the barrier of fear ‘At first I was afraid I was petrified….then I met my local dentist’.  This tagline is being used to highlight that although many people are afraid of the dentist, the thought is often worse than the reality! By putting a face to a name, and having the confidence to meet the local dentist, it can help to alleviate any fears and allow the opportunity to see past the occupation, to the person.
