My name is Jo Kingsbury, I work on a local landscape conservation project called the Garnock Valley Futurescape. The Futurescape is a partnership venture between RSPB, Scottish Wildlife Trust, Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, North Ayrshire Council, Scottish Natural Heritage and SEPA. As many of you will already know, we work together with a wide range of local landowners, businesses, community groups and individuals running a number of projects that encompass everything from delivering wildlife events and volunteering workdays to providing advice to landowners and delivering habitat enhancement projects for wildlife. More background information on the Garnock Futurescape can be found on our webpage here.

We are planning to apply for Landscape Partnership funding from the Heritage lottery Fund, and  would like to invite you to join us at a consultation event that will provide opportunity for you/your organisation to help develop plans and ideas for this venture. This funding stream allows multiple organisations to work together with local community groups to develop projects that could benefit the local landscape and the people that live within it. It can be used to deliver projects that will help to improve the area’s natural, cultural and built heritage, and linked to this access, education, training and volunteering opportunities.  For more info see the HLF website here. Although funding is not guaranteed at this stage, we are optimistic that with your help we can build a fantastic bid that will have a good chance of success.

The proposed Landscape Partnership area has the River Garnock at its heart, flowing from the Clyde Muirshiel hills, past Lochwinnoch through farmland to Bogside Flats, Stevenston and Irvine Bay. A map of the area can be found on our webpage and on the attached information sheet. We hope to see good representation from the community groups and organisations within this area at our consultation events.

We will be holding two consultation events as follows:

11th April 2016

14:00-17:00

Dalry Trinity Church Hall, Courthill Street, Dalry, KA24 5DP

13th April 2016

Irvine Harbour Arts Centre, 114-116 Harbour Street, Irvine, KA12 8PZ
